May/June - 2012

Nina Bricker's artwork will be on display at the La Madrona Swim & Racquet Club Festival in Scotts Valley on May 6 and in the Los Altos Cafe through June 1.

Gary Coleman's one man landscape show is at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts until July 16.

Tomiko Bailey is selected for the 19th annual Carmel Art Festival Plein Air event May 17-20.

Danielle Fafchamps has a sculpture juried into the 2012 Sculpture in the Garden show at the Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek June 16 - July 14.

John Flores is having a solo show "Art in the Garden" in Santa Cruz June 23 & 24.

Terri Ford's Country Calm received the Grand Prize in the Pastel Journal's Pastel 100 Competition and is featured on the cover of the April issue.

Peggy Hansen has 3 works accepted into the 2nd annual juried photography exhibition at the Plymouth Center for the Arts and 9 images will be featured in the 2012 Porter Gulch Review.

Ellen Howard has a painting accepted into the 82nd Annual Statewide exhibition "Landscape Color and Light" and another was accepted into the Society of Western Artists April/May exhibition.

Mimi Kearns has a painting on display at the Triton Museum from April 14-28.

Carolina Mueller's Sankein Gardens, Yokohama was accepted into the art show at the Biennial Convention of the NLAPW in Washington, DC.

Jeff Owen will be showing new sculptures at the Mother's Day "Filoli Flower Show" in Woodside.

Michael Rogan's Yellow Chair was included in the Pacific Art League juried show "Secret Garden". His Breaker was included in the Triton Museum "Spring Gala". Michael's Niles Canyon Station is included in the Santa Clara Art Association Members Show in June.

Teresa Rozzo is the featured artist at Viewpoints Gallery in May.

Zoya Scholis has a solo show at the Pacific Grove Art Center July 20 - August 30 and is included in a group show at the Fibre Arts Gallery in Palo Alto. She will be featured in the Los Altos Library in September and is a featured artist for August in the Kaleid Gallery in San Francisco.

Mary K. Stahl was selected to participate in the Carmel Art Festival in May and the Los Gatos Plein Air 2012 in June.

Dan Tellep's Mission Colonnade was accepted in the 2012 National Watercolor Society Member Juried Show.

Karen White will participate in the Los Altos Rotary's "Fine Arts in the Park" May 19-20 in Los Altos.

Angus Wilson will be the featured artist at New Masters Gallery in Carmel during May.

Edna Pierson Windes is included in a photo documentary as a Creating Woman and will be the judge of the Sunnyvale Art Exhibit Annual Show June 9. She will also present "What Judges Want, Good Art" at their group meeting on May 17.

2012 Members Juried Show

Reception & Awards Ceremony - Saturday, March 31

Despite an intermittent rain, the Reception and Awards Ceremony had perhaps the largest turnout yet.

The show includes 100 artworks from 70 of our members and everyone seemed pleased with the result of Preston's staging.

Congratulations to the Award winners as well as all the members juried into the show.

The show will be open 1-4pm every Saturday and Sunday (except Easter) through April 28 - staffed by member volunteers.

March/April - 2012

Tomiko Bailey's Foothills at Dusk, Palo Alto was juried into Salon International 2012 at Greenhouse Gallery, San Antonio, TX - showing April 14th to May 4th.

Nina Bricker was named 2011 Artist of the Year by the Los Altos Art Club.

Julia Cline created the CD cover and inside graphics for Kathy Sherman and the Good Folk Collective's "Welcome to the Folksong Cafe".

Gary Coleman will have a one man show at Mountain View Performing Arts April 17 through June 16.

Rose Farinas has been accepted into the Annual Saratoga Rotary Art Show.

Jane Ferguson was the featured artist at Intero Santana Row in February and is the featured artist at the Viewpoints Gallery in Los Altos in March.

Brian Haney has 7 works on display at the Cupertino Library through March 3rd.

Peggy Hansen has two pieces in the "Yosemite Renaissance XXVII" juried show in the museum gallery at Yosemite National Park through May 6th.The exhibit then travels throughout Northern California till the end of the year.

Xuan My Ho has her first solo exhibition of her mosaic artwork at Market Street Gallery in San Francisco, March 10 through April 27.

Ellen Howard was accepted into the Pacific Art League's "Bon Appetit" exhibition. She was also accepted into the Society of Western Artist's Exhibition.

Susanne Koga's received a second place and an honorable mention in the Valle Del Sur annual show.

Deborah Matlack and Mary Ann Henderson will be included in the Los Gatos Museum's "Ourselves and Others" Exhibition, March 15 to April 27.

Susan Migliore is having a one woman show at Michaelangelo Gallery in Santa Cruz for the month of March. Susan's work will also be in "Women's Works 2012" in Woodstock. Ill. March 6- April 29.

Carolina Mueller has been honored as an "Achiever in Art 2012" by The National League of Pen Women.

Britta Ottersgard has been accepted into the Annual Saratoga Rotary Art Show.

Michael Rogan is exhibiting recent watercolor paintings at the Santa Clara City Hall through the end of March.

Sandra Smith-Dugan's "California Bay Area Paintings" show is on display at the Graniterock Cupertino Design Center through May 7.

Edna Pierson Windes was asked by a man who recently purchased her painting Old Mill from an antique shop in Vermont if she could "repair" it. Although it wasn't really damaged, Edna says it was scary working on a watercolor she painted in 1979. Edna Pierson Windes - Old Mill

Janice Wong's homecoming received the Art Academy Award at Modern Art International exhibition contest held by Modern Japan Art Association in Tokyo last November.

January/February - 2012

Nina Bricker is showing her pastel abstract, Bubblegum Slide at the Santa Cruz Art League's Small Wonders show, Dec. 10-Jan.8. She has a pastel painting at the Moffett Field museum through Jan. 7, and will display various art pieces at The Original Pancake House in Los Altos, through February.

Susanne Koga's Gingerbread House received a second place ribbon and her Mochitsuki an honorable mention in the 2011 Valle Del Sur Open Juried Show.

Jim Potterton's Costanoa is included in the Triton Museum's 2011 Statewide Painting Competition/Exhibition.

Jeff Owen lectured on sculpture to 30 students at the TMCC Welding for Art class in Reno, Nevada.

Michael Rogan was awarded Artist of the Year by the Santa Clara Art Association for the  2011 general category. Michael was also advanced to the masters category for 2012.

November/December - 2011

Laurie Barna's watercolor and collage painting, "Angel # 21: Recycled," was accepted into the Santa Cruz Art League's "Works on Paper" show, October 22 to November 20 in Santa Cruz. Laurie Barna - Angel # 21: Recycled

Karen Druker's "Sprout Popping Out" received an Honorable Mention in the SVOS juried exhibit "The Environment " at Los Altos Hills Town Hall, and her mixed media collage "High on Life" was accepted in the SCAL exhibit "Works on Paper".

Rosa Farinas is the featured artist in Gallery Saratoga in December. The reception "Abstract and Collage" is December 10 from 1- 5.

Jane Ferguson's "Pink Vase" won first place in the mixed media section of the Annual FALC Fall Festival. This same painting also won a Sponsor Award in the SCVWS Annual Members Show. Lance Glasser's sculpture, "Bacchanalian Swing," won Best in Show (3D) at Renovation, the 69th World Science Fiction Convention, August 2011.

Raja Guha Thakurta's "An Unfinished Story" received an honorable mention in the Fine Arts League of Cupertino 2011 Fall Fest and six of his pieces were included in the Campbell Artists' Guild Annual Show.

Susan Migliore has been asked to become an Associate Member of Women Artists of the West - a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the profession of women's fine art.

Michael Rogan's "Group Therapy" won a first place in the Santa Clara Art Association member show in July - and second place in the 2011 SCVWS member show. In August he won a first in the watercolor division at the University Art Open. The SCVWS is using a new piece of his reproduced on posters and cards to promote the annual member show. Julia Seelos is a recent winner of "Best of Show" at the LPAPA Best of Exhibition 2011 and has been invited to the Sedona Plein Air Festival.

Deborah Matlack has had two pastel figure/portraits accepted by Northwest Pastel Society's Annual International Open in Tacoma, WA in November, and two accepted by the Degas Pastel Society for their Member Show in New Orleans in October.

Carolina Mueller's "Parrot Talk" received second place in the EVA Annual Show 2011. Her "Sankeien Gardens, Yokohama" received an honorable mention at the FALC Annual Show 2011.

Jeff Owen has been commissioned to create a sculpture for a stately home in Whistler, BC, Canada.

Zoya Scholis received the O'Neil Family Award for her painting, "Rainy Day" which was included in the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society's 11th annual juried exhibition in Buffalo, NY last month. Zoya Scholis - Rainy Day

September/October - 2011

Laurie Barna will be exhibiting 24 original watercolor paintings from her Liberty Series at the upcoming, "125 Years of Liberty: A Tribute," through October 25 at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center.

Maria Boisvert placed 3rd in the Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association "small to Large" juried show and also won the Solo Show award for the juried San Juan Batista Plein Air Event.

Gary Coleman has been selected for inclusion on the Mountain View Performing Arts exhibition calendar for 2012. "Gary Coleman - California Landscapes" will be hosted through October by the Graniterock Cupertino Design Center. Two of Gary's figure paintings are included in the "Great Big Book of Fashion Illustration".

John Eaton received First Place award for his black and white photograph "Under the Tower, Canterbury" at the PHOTOcentric 2011 show in New York.

Danielle Fafchamps' "House Spirit #22" will be exhibited in the juried show "Multiples" at the Pacific Art League in September.

Terri Ford's painting "Fishing Nets" received the Bronze Award from the  Master Circle Exhibit at the IAPS Convention. Her "Morning Vista" Won Third place overall and the Best Pastel Award at the 2011 Carmel Art Festival Plein Air Event. Her "Market Shadows" was juried into the Pastel Society of America 2011 Pastels Only Exhibit at the National Arts Club in New York. Her work is featured in the June issue of "Pratique des Arts" magazine and will also appear in the Fall issue of "Plein Air" magazine.

Terri Hill, Karen White, and Diane Fujimoto are featured in the new 'FIREWORKS' exhibit at PARC.

Xuan My Ho will participate in Kings Mountain Art Fair in Woodside on Labor Day weekend and two of her mosaic wall hangings are accepted in the Filoli Fall Art Exhibit juried show.

Diane Kaye's color photography portfolio, "Lumen Prints" has just been chosen for display for one year at PhotoPlace Gallery, Middlebury, Vermont.

April Maiten has been juried into the Los Altos Hills City Hall show - up through Feb. 24. She also had two pieces accepted into the "Tesserae" juried show in Long Beach in September - October.

Deborah Matlack was awarded Second Best of Show for "Repose", 2nd Place in Dry Media for "The Green Suede Jacket" and 3rd Place for "Child's Play" in University Art's 4th Annual Competition and Exhibition.

Jeff Owen had two sculptures featured at Sunset Magazine's "Idea House" in Menlo Park, CA (August Issue).

Carole Rafferty's painting "Bay Bridge" was a finalist in the May/June 1st Plein Air Salon competition run by Plein Air Magazine. Her painting "Sunrise Cafe, San Francisco" was chosen for the American Impressionist Society 12th Annual National Juried Exhibition to be held at Mountainsong Galleries at Carmel in October.

Michael Rogan's painting "Santa Clara Afternoon" has been accepted as a finalist in the University Art Annual Competition. Michael also is exhibiting his painting, "Breaker" with the SCVWS member show, "Interpretations" at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library through the end of August.

July/August - 2011

Tomika Bailey received an Honorable Mention at the Carmel Art Festival Plein Air Event in May.

Nina Bricker's "Darby and Kibbie" pastel won a blue ribbon at the June meeting of the Los Altos Art Club.

Gary Coleman has a one-person exhibition at Graniterock in Cupertino starting August 15.

Mei-Ying Dell'Aquila was juried into the Texas National Competition at Old Post Office Museum July 4-29, and is participating in a group show at the Driftwood Salon in San Francisco through July 9, as well as the Pacific Art League Member Show.

Marian Gault has two pieces juried into the "Music and the Sounds of Nature" Calligraphy exhibit at Filoli Gardens, August 2 - September 11.

Peggy Hansen's Dancer 2 was juried into the 2011 Kellicutt International Photography Exhibition at the Coastal Arts League gallery in Half Moon Bay through August 1. Peggy also has a solo show on the 5th floor of the Santa Cruz County Government Center through August 15.

Xuan My Ho has completed her second community volunteer mosaic project, making the Phleger Station sign and a Hiking on Kings Mountain sign for Kings Mountain community in Woodside. Xuan's Alicia mosaic sculpture won Third prize in the San Mateo County Fair.

Jeffrey Janoff won 2nd place in the 2011 Los Gatos Photo Contest.

Jill Kroh won 3rd place in the Living in Los Gatos category as well as the People's Choice award in the 2011 Los Gatos Photo Contest.

Felix Chan Lim & Bobbi Makani taught "The Art of Chinese Landscape Painting" at Stanford University in May.

Will Maller has 2 paintings juried into the 15th National Juried Exhibition at the Saks Galleries in Denver. He also has a drawing in the "San Francisco Bay Area Figurative Renaissance" book.

Deborah Matlack's The Fencer won Third place in the Society of Western Artists Annual Show in Redwood City. She also won Best of Show for The Lavender Hat, First in Pastel for Scholar's Pastime and a Second in Mixed Media for Order from Chaos in the Santa Clara Art Association Member Show.

April Maiten will have 13 mosaics on display at Brian's Restaurant in Los Altos through August.

Michael Rogan's Valley of San Jose won first prize in the watercolor division of the Santa Clara Art Association Member Show.

Helen Scheel's Autumn Harvest won 2nd place in pastels in the Society of Western Artists Annual Show in Redwood City, through August 14. Helen is one of 20 painters selected for the "Art in the Garden" event in the Gamble Garden in Palo Alto on July 15-16.

Mary K. Stahl's A Well-Worn Path received an Emerging Artist ribbon at the Carmel Art Festival in May.

May/June - 2011

Shanon Amidon was chosen by the Arts Council Silicon Valley as one of the recipients for the 2011 Artist Fellowship Grant for her photography.

John Flores is hosting his 3rd Annual Art Show June 25-26, in his home in Santa Cruz.

Lance Glasser has been juried into the 28th annual "Sculpture in the Park 2011" in Loveland, CO in August.

Peggy Hansen's images have been selected for the 2011 Porter Gulch Review and her Blue Ice was awarded honorable mention by jurors of Yosemite Renaissance XXVI. Peggy's work will also will be featured at Santa Cruz County Government Center May 31 - August 15.

March/April - 2011

Tomiko Bailey has a painting juried into Greenhouse Gallery, Salon International 2011 Show April 2-22 in San Antonio.

Nina Bricker will be showing her work at The Bean Scene Cafe on Castro St. in Mountain View in March and April.

Roosevelt Bynum's work will be on display in the Gallery at UnWined Wine Bar and Shop in San Jose through June.

Danielle Fafchamps has a sculpture juried  into the 6th Biennial Indoor Sculpture Exhibit in the City Hall in Santa Clara from mid-April through September.

Terri Ford's paintings Mystic Cliffs and Fishing Nets will be published in the April issue of The Pastel Journal. They both received honorable mentions in the Annual Pastel 100 competition. Her painting Sunset on the Seine is one of five finalists in the International Association of Pastel Societies 2011 Convention Poster competition and will appear in the May/June issue of The Pastel Journal.

Carolina Mueller was featured in an article in the Divya Bhaskar newspaper in Ahmedabad, India (circulation 5M).

Four paintings by Sayeko Nakamura have been juried into the permanent collection of the UKI-City Art Museum in Japan. Sayeko was also invited to conduct a workshop at the UKI-City Water Media Society.

Jack Quattlebaum's photographs will on display in the Cupertino Library throughout March and April.

Thalia Stratton was accepted into the 2010 Oil Painter of America Western Regional Juried Show in Jackson, Wyoming and was highlighted in the November 2010 American Art Collector Magazine.  She is also exhibiting with other "Great American Figurative Artists" at the Waterhouse Gallery in Santa Barbara.

January/February - 2011

Shannon Amidon participated in an artist residency at the Julie and David White Artist Colony in Costa Rica for the whole month of December.

Nina Bricker's art was included in the Santa Cruz Art League show "This Is Santa Cruz"; the Menlo College show "Images of Menlo"; and the Los Altos Art Club show "The Magic of Color".

Maria Boisvert was awarded Second Place for a piece entitled "Done for the Day", and a tie on People's Choice as well, at the "Fences" show at the Corral de Tierra Country Club in Monterey County.

Karen Druker, Jane Ferguson, Jan Grady, Veronica Gross and Sayeko Nakamura were accepted into the 2010 Triton Museum's statewide watermedia competition.

Karen Garnett won First Place Award in Acrylic Painting and Second Place in Oil Painting at the Valle del Sur 2010 Open Juried Show; as well as Artists' Choice Award at the MBPAPA Monterey Tapestry Exhibit. She currently has a solo show at DVINE Jazz and Wine in Morgan hill.

Peggy Hansen had 2 pieces juried into Yosemite Renaissance XXVI. Peggy will also have a solo show at Laser Light Printmakers in Aptos, from January 3-February 28.

April Maiten has one mosaic hanging at Intel and another at the Saratoga Library. Three of her mosaics were on display in Palo Alto during December.

Carolina Mueller will be the featured artist at Gallery Saratoga in February.

Julia Munger Seelos is one of two artists featured in the Thos. Moser San Francisco Showroom through January 10.

Britta Ottersgard participated in the SWEA (Swedish Women Education Association) Christmas Fair in St Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco, December 4, and sold 4 paintings.

Michael Rogan will be exhibiting recent watercolor paintings in the bimonthly exhibit at the Santa Clara City Hall in February and March.
