The Kennedy Road Art Show is a week-long event that includes several viewing times, a paintout, and an artists' reception. The paintings are done by local artists and are displayed in the cottage on the property. This year the theme of the show is Reflections.

New this year, LGAA has added a party to the summer art show  The combined event is held at the park-like residence of LGAA members Hershel Abelman and Ingeborg Jakobson. The public as well as LGAA members are invited. Click on the date August 17 on the Calendar to see a map in which you can obtain driving directions.

Letter from the President

I am happy to announce the return of LGAA's traditional "Peer Review," which is both a members' gallery and contest held at the monthly Demo Meetings. Starting on August 14th, members are invited to bring one recent piece of art (no size restrictions) to display in the Members' Gallery. During the break, members vote by ballot for their three favorite pieces of art. The winners of the artist of the month contest are awarded certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Each winner is photographed and the images are displayed in the next issue of the Palette and on the LGAA Website. The winners may add the honors to their art resumes.

At the end of each year, all the winners' numbers are tallied to determine the top three winners for the Artist of the Year Award. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners receive gift cards. With the onset of COVID in 2020, the monthly Peer Reviews had to be discontinued. The Instagram online Members Gallery was created to fill its place. Due to its popularity, the Instagram gallery will continue unchanged, and now we have two different monthly members' galleries.

The week-long Kennedy Road Art Show and Party Event was a huge success. Many thanks to Hershel Abelman and Ingeborg Jakobson for hosting the July event at the park-like setting of their home. Congratulations to the participating artists, whose names appear in the Member News section below. The painings will be displayed in a second showing at the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Co. September 1st through October 31st.

Entries are being accepted for our annual fall Members' Juried Show until September 16th. This year the event will again be held at the Los Gatos Addison-Pezak JCC. Mark your calendars for the Reception and Awards Presentation, which is on Sunday, October 9th from 2 - 4 pm. You can find detailed information and instructions at OnLineJuriedShows.com and submit your entries there.

We still need volunteers for LGAA to continue with all its features. Please see the openings in the WANTED section below. If any of the positions are of interest to you, please send me an email at president@lgaa.org. I will be glad to tell you more about the job description and welcome you to the board!

Welcome to the new and returning members, whose names appear directly below. Please note that we will no longer be able to accept checks at the demo meetings or by mail. You may pay your membership fee by PayPal or credit card on our website lgaa.org. If you have a problem making a payment or logging in, please call ClubExpress Support toll free at 1-866-HLP-CLUB (457-2582).

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Warmest wishes,
Jane Loomis
